I have a confession to make:
I am incredibly tired of church. I’m tired of singing songs and playing my guitar and the so-called worship curve. I’m tired of offering talks and the rich young ruler and something about a camel and a needle.
I’m tired of announcements. My God, I’m tired of…

The Calf Path by Sam Walter Foss
“One day, through the primeval wood,
A calf walked home, as good calves should;
But made a trail all bent askew,
A crooked trail as all calves do.
“Since then three hundred years have fled,
And, I infer, the calf is dead.
But still he left behind his trail,
And thereby hangs my moral tale.
“The trail was taken up next day
By a lone dog that passed that way;
And then a...

Though everything may move in the opposite direction of what you know is right, stand firm. God is faithful to the end.
Anything worth doing is worth doing poorly, until you learn to do it well.
Failure is the opportunity to begin again more intelligently.

The tree we should have ignored.
mcole:
It occurs to me that 96.2% of our walk with Jesus is spent trying to figure out right from wrong. We want to ascertain what areas of our lives (or, more importantly, other people’s lives) are bad or wrong or evil or sinful. We want to have a clear list of dos and don’ts to live by, and we want to introduce other people to our list.
We want to be God.
After all, that’s what the snake...

Life is Risk
Wonderful days with friends. Adventures of all kinds. Moments to remember and to share, memories to laugh about and relive together. I am thoroughly enjoying life here in small town Stratford. Especially since the summer has begun to roll in. But I’m broke and still looking for a job. Life is risk, and being where I need to be in this season is demanding much more faith and humility than I...

Illusion of soundness.
I’m well aware that we have been given the gift of a sound mind by the Spirit alive within us. But on days like today, I am almost convinced that my sanity, or sanity in general for that matter, is an illusion.
For all the women out there, I am sure you’ve shared in some crazy compulsions and cravings when it comes to that time of every month… I often forget the craziness until...
The scriptures tell us that God is love. Therefore, it is fare to conclude that anywhere there is love, there is God. Wherever there is no love, God is not. Let’s think about that in relation to our churches, our interactions, our laws and expectations. Where is God, where is love? Not what, but who is love? Do we know Love? …

Day
There is hope on the horizon, hope on this sun rising.
There is hope in the newness of this day, there is vision on the wings of this dawn.
Therefore I cling to the light, I hold on to this truth;
It is in this renewed mercy, that I’ll forever stay.
Tripping
Pretty sure that I should lock my heart in a vault and throw away the key. It is to tender for this world, to fragile for human hands. It is delicate and tired of being devastated. My heart longs… and has not fully found. My heart waits. With every throb, the depths of my cries fade… into the silence of this pain. I’m tripping on the pieces, though they have been replaced....

The "List"; Ramblings and Reflections
As a young Christian woman, I have heard much talk in the church throughout the years about the importance, and the sanctity of marriage. It is a hot topic; finding the right spouse seems to be the focus of young adulthood. To be bound in holy matrimony with the one who will reflect the goodness of Christ - who will love you as the bride is loved by her creator. It’s a beautiful hope and wonderful...

We’re all different. So let’s stop trying to be the same. Different is good.
I am me. And I’m the best me that could ever be. And you’re you, the best you there could ever be.
Different is good. Different sometimes is hard and unliked. But different is what this world needs. This world needs me to be me and you to be you. And for us all to appreciate the beauty of the...

Digging
Today, God reminded me how much better it is to let him dig out my wounds rather than have me react in my human nature by trying to cover them all in with meaningless dirt. His intension is to save me from the grave; my role is to let him. Wounds, they hurt like hell, and when a dagger gets thrown into the gaping hole, it doesn’t make the pain go away, so we try to ignore the daggers of the world...
Pressure
The color of this day, in the natural, was very gray; it was dark and rainy. Usually, a day I would have described as comforting; however, this cloudy Monday was, for me, more like a swirl of color. A swirl of dark and bright colors, not very relaxing or comforting.
Today, I woke up knowing I had a very important test to pass. My class G license road test. It was scheduled for the afternoon,...

Who to tell?
This evening, I had my armpits waxed… OUCH!!! Yes, I realize it’s not exactly a dinner topic but my mom is an esthetician, it comes with the territory. Basically, I’ve just experienced the type of pain that makes you involuntarily scream. First, the warm, comforting wax is applied to the surface; seemingly friendly, then, it turns it’s back on you, acting as an agent of...
